MERA25 supports the grassroots shareholder campaign of the GKN Factory Collective
– Thank you! We have reached the €500 target! If you want to help us out, we will be able to buy more shares. –
“Italy is a Republic founded on work”, says our Constitution.
But what happens if work loses more and more value?
Globalisation and techno-capitals are fuelling the concentration of wealth, generating unemployment and precariousness. In this context, how can we safeguard the dignity of thousands of workers and build an economy based on justice, solidarity and democratic participation?
The GKN Factory Collective was born out of a workers’ struggle in Campi Bisenzio (Firenze), which began in July 2021 after more than 400 workers were laid off by the Melrose fund. In response, workers occupied the factory and transformed a labour dispute into a collective project of resistance and rebirth.
Today, the Collective aims to convert the factory into a public, self-managed hub dedicated to sustainable mobility and renewable energy. To do this, they have launched a popular shareholder campaign.
MERA25 Italy wants to be there, with a concrete contribution.
This fundraiser will be used to buy at least 5 shares of the GFF COOP.P.A. cooperative and actively support the project.
It is not charity. It is an investment in the future. An investment in a vision of a fairer society. A chance to say to those who will come, we supported this dream and give it to them.
